I am back...
It's been two weeks already...
Last week I had been busy and (to be honest) I had no finished objects. And I wanted to have a finished object at least before I write a new post...
I was a little bit lazy the whole last week and I didn't knit much, but this week I was productive...
And I have FO's, HO's and WIPs... Maybe a few more than I should...
We will see...
My finished Objects
I finished my dress...
Yes... Yes... Yes...
All of it... The body, the sleeves... Everything...
Almost... I need to weave in ends... But... It's done... done... done...
First of all, I still have yarn left... Enough to make a cardigan (which is my next project, to match the dress)
Secondly, for the size of it, it was a fairly quick knit... I mean, it took me like a month or two months... Something like that...
But it was worth it... I really enjoyed it...
Now, for the sleeves...
I tried to do the sleeves on the pattern, but I either messed up or it was not looking good on me...
So... I frogged it (I made the one and tried it) and I did a straight sleeve for a few rows (no idea how long it is in cm or in, I just knit 20 rows) and I finished it with the same border I used at the bottom of the dress...
It was an easy knit and a meditative one... And I like those a lot.
This was a Drops design called Sweet Susan that was meant to be a blouse but I turned it into a dress and now I will turn it into a cardigan as well.
I am thinking on making the same dress in other colours and create a capsule wardrobe.
My Half Finished Objects
I finished one of the two mittens for my friend from the Florence Set by Drops.
This is the first time I knit a mitten and I found it easy enough... I have a hole where I picked for the thumb stitches but I can fix it easily.
I could have a whole pair ready, but I was too lazy to cast on the second one... No idea why... It was fast and when I will cast on the second one I will have it ready very quickly...
Hopefully this week I will do it.
My Works In Progress
I cast on two new things...
And I am about to cast on a third one...
Here is my thinking...
I want to have one project for when I watch the movie, one that it is easy and mindless and one that is less mindless...
Now to be honest, I opened my stash and found a lot of yarn that is leftovers but enough to be a new project... I will write different post about it...
I cast on a vest for my boyfriend...
I didn't swatch, because who needs it anyway, and I cast on this easy vest from Yarnspirations... It is called Unisex Adult V-neck Vest.
(By the time I tried to make the link to the pattern it was no longer available on yarnspirations)
It is worked it two pieces - front and back - and then put together...
And, as you can see, I own and use straight needles...
I had them and I can use them and knit fairly quickly, so why not?
I need my circulars for rounded projects and if I don't own a lot of needles I have to finish the previous projects before I start new ones, so... It's a way of thinking, right???
My next work in progress is not on the needles but ready to cast on...
It is a skirt by Drops (by now you know I like their patterns and they are free) and I will use leftover yarn by ICE. It is tweed and I think I have enough...
Now I will modify it, of course, and do it a top down one, because I would much prefer to cast on 216 stitches rather than 400... Plus I want to make it a little longer, so I will have to check how much yarn I have left... You get the point...
I will start it and if it goes well I will make another post telling you what modifications I made...
Movie Night Knitting
My last work in progress is my movie knitting...
Now that I finished the dress I need something plain and simple...
I don't think I have enough yarn for a garter shawl (which might not be an accurate point) but I have enough yarn for socks...
For both me and my boyfriend...
I started with him, because he loves my hand knit socks...
Now...
Last week we watched Angels and Demons... It was very good and we really enjoyed it... I had already seen it but I liked it even though it was the second time watching it...
On this movie I knit/knitted (whatever) my dress...
This week we watched Inferno, again second time for me, but who counts...
We enjoyed that as well and I knit on the new socks... And it went well, I think...
I managed to knit enough...
I like the toe-up socks, because it helps me with the way my mind works... I think that it is easier for me to think that I have to use up to 50 grams for the sock than to have to estimate how long the leg will be...
The pattern is a "recipe" from New Leaf Designs... She also has youtube videos... It is easy and I like it...
Besides, this it the third pair I make... I made one for me and one for him and I didn't notice the balls were 50 grams, so I had a 50gram ball for each pair and a 50gram ball for toes-heels-cuffs and it seemed logical to knit the foot as long as needed and do the leg as long as it can be...
I liked it and now I do it again...
It is a vanilla sock, so not much to say there...
I have enough yarn on my stash, so I will buy new one when I finish the one I have already..
I am sure that will change some day, but now my mindset is to use what I have...
That's it for now...
Hope you are all well!!!
Until next time...
Stay safe and sane!!!
