Welcome back to another page of my knitting journal... (that sounds like a good opening... what do you think?)
How was your week???
Mine was, I would say, average... Nothing fancy happened... Nothing out of the ordinary... Just the usual staff...
Oh... I went for a walk on Saturday (I am not that much of a walk person...) and I noticed that people just walk and they act like they don't see you... I mean you have your path and they expect you to change your route... They don't take a step to the side, so you can do the same and both keep going...
No, it's like you are not there... That is very frustrating... Does it happen where you live or is it just a Greek thing...
Just to mention, I live in a city... Not a very big city, but a city after all, where people walk without watching around, just thinking of their problems and not paying attention to other people...
Anyways... After that I didn't go for a walk, just because I didn't plan it or I didn't want to... I did my yoga everyday... Which was good, because it has been a long time since I had a full week of yoga... And it was really good...
We started having short sleeve weather (not sweater weather yet, but it's getting there) this week... Which is good...
I also tried some new recipes... I made deconstructed stuffed peppers (an easy and quick dish) and chicken soup with curry spices and they were both delicious...
And now let's move to my knitting...
I have an FO... And two WIPs...
My Finished Objects
I finished my skirt... Of course I need to weave in the ends and to put an elastic band on the waist, but I cast it off (or bind off... is there a difference?) yesterday night... It was a fun knit and (as I saw on ravelry) it took me 20 days, which was not that slow...
It was a fun knit... An easy knit and the cables where not that difficult... If you would like to start with the cable thing, you could try this... I have to wash it and block it a little, in order for the cables to "open" and be more visible, but I have no idea how I can iron it without destroying the fluffiness of the cable... If you have any suggestions, please inform me...
I have 100grams left from the yarn, which means I have to find something else to do... Probably a pair of socks for the house... We will see...
For the last time, this is the Oxford skirt by Drops Designs and it is a free pattern... And the yarn is Ice Yarn Tweed...
My Works In Progress
I cast on the front of the Unisex Adult V-neck Vest from Yarnsiprations which is a pattern I have no idea where you can find... It was on Ravelry, I downloaded it and a few days later it was nowhere to be seen... Magic... Mystery... No idea... If you can figure it out, let me know...
Anyways... As you can see I haven't even finished the rib...
To my defense, this is my living room knitting and I don't sit much on the living room these days... Defense no 2, I wanted to finish the skirt...
But, the fact that it is on my needles, means that it is on the way to be a finished object soon... Give it one or two weeks and I am sure I will have it ready (ok, no promises here... We will see...)
My other WIP is not a WIP... I have to make the second mitten... I know... I have 1,5 months to finish it... I have to send it to my friend... I will... And this is a promise... I am not sure about next week, but I will... For sure... She has two hands after all and she only knows how to crochet, so I cannot send her the one and tell her to make the other...
My Movie Knitting
This week I did a lot of movie knitting...
First we watched Blade Runner 2049...
To be honest, I preferred the old one better... It was more philosophical... It was based on a book of the late 70s and it referred to genetics, engineering and playing god... whilst the second was more political... I am not saying that the second was bad... But I felt that the first was more inspiring... And it seems that the second will have a third coming up... Or that is what I think so...
Secondly we watched a theater performance from home... It was Junkermann by M.Karagatsis a greek novelist. I liked the play and I also liked the way we watched it... It was a new to me experience and a good one...
These being said, I had an almost 6hour session with my sock... It was approximately 3 hours on the movie and 3 hours on the play...
I am past the heel, but only slightly...
I knit the heel but I had to frog it because it was small... I knit these socks on a 2mm needle... It was easy to know how long I had to make them, but when I knit the heel I realized that the row gauge is short, which means that the heel is small... I frogged it and I put the stitches on scrap yarn and I will do a peasant heel after I finish the foot... Or even the second sock... Because I will have to figure it out... Which makes it a good lesson...
Next week I have no idea what we will see... You will find out after the fact, apparently...
Hope you enjoyed me talking about random staff apart from my knitting... If you liked it let me know and I will keep on doing it...
Hope you are safe!!!
Wish you the best!!
See you next week!!!
