I finished the 5am Club by Robin Sharma yesterday and this is my opinion...
Just to be clear... This is my personal opinion and mine only... You don't have to agree with it...
To be honest, I am not the person who would wake up at 5am, even if they paid me to do it... But, I read the book because I needed ideas and inspiration for my morning routine (and the evening one) and ways to structure my days and beat procrastination.
And I did find all of those things... Sort of...
It helps you build a daily schedule and be productive, but I am not very sure that it is what I would do on a daily bases...
5am is a brutal hour to wake up. And the whole book is really strict about that... It is either that or you fail to succeed... It was a lot of black and white... And no grey at all...
I mean, I wake up at 7 o'clock and I have a 2-hour morning routine, including my morning walk (which is 45 minutes). I don't understand why I have to wake up at 5 if I can accomplish the same thing at 7...
It depends on the person and the everyday schedule everyone has... If you have to leave home at 7 to go to work, then 5 is your time... Or not... If you don't need a 2-hour morning routine it's up to you... And you only...
Another thing I didn't like was the fact that it had to be a background story... And too much money involved... Flying here and there is not something an everyday person can do... It was like he was waving dollars in front of your face saying "Look what you are missing if you wake up later". And the two students could leave everything behind and go on a journey without having to work... I doesn't resonate with me at all... Most of us have to work to live...
Let alone that - in the beginning at least - it felt like he was taking them to an isolated island to kill them...
I read the book for 30 minutes each morning and at the same time I was knitting on a pair of socks.
Funnily, the socks finished along with the book...
I used Drops Delight on the colour grey and 3mm needles. I didn't use any pattern. I cast on 16 stitches and I used my toe-up sock. When foot measured 19cm I started the fleegle heel. Then I knit for 40 more rows, I knit 10 rows of 2x2 rib and bound-off using the stretchy bind off.
These are a gift. I gave them already and I don't have a picture.
