Yesterday, I went to the beach at night for the first time... And I went into the sea, as well...
A little context first...I live in Greece and I work seasonally in Mykonos island.
People most of the times think that, working in the summer on an island, is very easy and you have time going to the beach and partying and having fun...
Nope...
Working on an island during the summer season means that you work for those who come to have fun and go to the beach and party. You don't...
I won't complain... People come here to relax and they are more polite and kind that when they work in the city for hours and hours...
And I work for 8 hours, not more and I have a day off...The working hours might feel strange to a lot of people, but I work from 13:00-21:00. And it makes sense. People don't wake up at 05:00, they get back at 05:00.
I work in a boutique hotel, with 10 rooms. It is not a stressful job, like others in the tourist industry and I have moments of relaxation (even during work hours).
But... 13:00 beginning of shift doesn't work well with morning beach time... Starting from the day before, I finish work at 21:00, I am home by 21:30 and - that means - I am not in bed before 23:00 and asleep before 00:00. So waking up early is not something that happens. I need my 8 hours of sleep and time to relax and do chores at the house and socialize. So the mornings at the beach are not a way to go.
So, yesterday, I come back from work, we have dinner and - as we sit and watch a tv series - I think "why don't we go to the beach at night".
My partner is working here as well, so we are together in this... And I dropped the bomb...
And boom... 15 minutes later we are in the car going to the beach.
It was one of the best times of my life. The sea was wonderful, we were all alone at the beach and we relaxed so much we didn't want to go home.
We did, because it was the first time this year, but it was meditative and relaxing and calming and all the other synonyms of those words... And even more...
I want to do it again... And I will... Probably tonight...
Have you ever done it? Did you like it?
I need to add here, that in my country, it is not dangerous to go in the water at night. We don't have sharks or other sea animals. What we did, was not life threatening at all... That's why we did it. And that's why I write about it...
Until next time...
Be well and enjoy your life...
Jenny xoxo!!!
