Welcome back to another page of my knitting journal...

It's been a week since my last update and I have a lot to talk about...

First things first, we are in a mandatory quarantine... Again... Starting from yesterday and for 3 weeks... Hopefully!!!

That means, we have to send an sms every time we need to get out of the house and we are allowed to go to buy groceries, we can go for a walk and a few other things and that's it...

To be honest, I don't like to go out a lot, because of the situation, but now that the weather is not that hot, I could go for a walk... But I am not so sure anymore... Other than that, we try to buy all our groceries at once, and we like to finish what we have at home before we buy something else... And we did that before Corona... It was a habit...

That being said, we needed to go to IKEA on Thursday and that made me think of a thing or two...

There were a lot of people who wore their mask wrong (I don't really understand it, you have to put the nose under the mask, not the mask under the nose) but also, a lot of them where there just for fun... They were just walking around and they just bought one or two small things and nothing more... There was a huge line on the cashiers and no distance at all...

And my thought was -if it was a normal day- yes, go to IKEA just for fun, but now we have a virus... It would be wiser to go only if you absolutely need something and you cannot order it online... It feels selfish, because the people who work there have no other choice and they could be safer if we didn't go just because we had nothing else to do in our houses...

Anyways...

Another thing I did was shop...

I know... I have a whole article saying that I will knit my stash first and then buy, but...

I had no sock yarn... And I wanted to participate in a KAL I found on Facebook... And since I bought yarn for that, why not buy some more sock yarn for vanilla (or other) socks...

What I Bought

I didn't buy a lot of yarn but I liked what I got... I bought it online from a - not so local - yarn store...

To start from the beginning...

I needed some red, white and green yarn for the KAL... I looked on the yarn stores we have in Piraeus (my town) and found only wool/acrylic blends... Wool/nylon blend nowhere to be found...

So I went to Athens (the biggest city of Greece, approximately half hour to an hour from home) and I looked on their local yarn stores... Wool/nylon blend on single color nowhere to be found... I did find, though, multi-coloured yarn, but it was not what I needed...

The only online (and physical store) I found the wool/nylon blend on plethora of colors was in a town very far from home but in Greece... I choose to support locals, even if they are not so close to me physically and I bought from there...

Considering the circumstances, I bought the yarn on Saturday noon and I had it on Tuesday... Which was 2 working days after...

I bought blue, grey and white for the socks, because they were out of red and the green was not the one I wanted,

and I also bought two more colors... One for me
and one for my boyfriend...
I was paying for shipping, why not buy some more...

I haven't started the KAL yet, but I plan on doing it really soon and your will have info about the one sock on my Movie Night Knitting...

Let's move to the actual knitting...

I have no FOs, so we move on to WIPs...

My Works In Progress

I made some progress on my boyfriends sweater, but it is not out of my needles yet... I spent a lot of time doing other staff this week and there were days when I didn't knit at all...

Plus the weather started to change and it was a bit difficult to get out of bed... So the regular half hour I knit in the morning was not scheduled... I need to get organized and get back in track...

No mitten this week as well... But I will... Hopefully...

My Movie Night Knitting

I finished the leg of the sock (I knit it during the week while watching random episodes of knitting podcasts) and the ribbing, but it feels very tight... It doesn't look like it can fit on his calf... So I put it on hold and I will figure out what I will do with it... But it, maybe, goes on the frogging pile...

Yesterday we watched Olympus has fallen...

To be honest, I knew what I was getting into... A "superhero" movie without super powers... I liked it, but my boyfriend not so much... I like the fact that it has so many wholes on the script that you can talk about those during the whole movie and have fun, but he thought that they shouldn't be there... Different points of view on the same subject...

On that movie I started a new sock for him... I did manage knit enough and since this is on 2,5mm needles it goes faster... But when he tried it, it wasn't tight enough... Which made me think what I do wrong... And I found it...

I cast on 72 stitches for the sock, but the previous one I made, which fits perfectly was 68... Now... I will frog it and knit it again... I will be easy, because I haven't even been in the middle of the foot...

And now I know...

I didn't watch any other movies this week...

Also I am not in the mood to read, but I plan on doing it soon, so I will let you know about my reading as well...

That's it for this week...

Hope you are all well!!!

Stay safe and stay home!!!

See you next week...
