Sunday 15-11-2020

Welcome back to another page of my knitting journal...

A lot of things happened this week, considering we are locked inside our homes again...

As per last Saturday we are in another mandatory quarantine because the numbers are up...

To me this is not a surprise... If you think that we get flues and the common cold in the spring and autumn, why would this be a surprise... It is like a flu after all...

Now, don't get me wrong... I am not a doctor (although I have some biology background) but this was not something that should surprise those who know more...

It was something we didn't hope but, somewhere in our minds, it was expected...

But, being inside doesn't mean that life stops going on... And that is good...

One of the things I did last week was meal prepping... A real one... Normally, I will make a plan of what we will eat each day (it helps us to be in 15day schedules) but last week I did more... A lot more...

I cooked the food we were about to eat on Sunday and the food we were meant to eat on Monday... We don't mind eating the same food 2 or 3 days in a row, because we prefer to have as little leftovers as possible... And I also chopped and froze the vegetables for the food I would cook after that... And not only that... I have already chopped celery and leeks on my freezer...

That was really helpful during the week... The chopped vegetables where just fine when they hit the pan to get cooked and I had more time...

What I usually do is double batch things like soups or sauces (for pasta) and the leftovers are divided in two dish portions and get in the freezer... That way we can defrost a portion for two, just heat it up and we have something to eat...

Even before corona-times we were not much of a take-out people... I like to cook, so we make at home whatever we want to eat... We find it healthier and - to be honest - more budget friendly as well...

Let's move into my knitting...

No finished objects this week, which leads us to my WIPs...

My Works In Progress

I am almost there with my boyfriend's vest... It was about time to finish it, because it took too long to be made... I almost finished the one side of the V and I need to start the other side of it... It doesn't take long and that means I will have a finished object by last week... But since I make promises that I don't keep, we will see how it goes...

And since we talked about promises, remember the mitten I had to make???

Well I cast it on... I knit 30 minutes every day and I think that I will have it ready by next week... After bypassing the laziness, it is a quick knit... I could make it in a day or two but I decided to knit it 30 minutes every day and that is what I will do... I must say that it could probably be finished by now, but I finished the ribbing and figured that I used my 3,00mm needles instead of the 3,50mm...

The other thing I have on my needles is my participation on the Christmas sock KAL I found on Facebook...

It is the first time I knit colorwork and so far I seem to do it correctly... I can see some inconsistency where I change needles but I hope this will block out... It is also the first time I knit a cuff-down sock... Up to now I knit them toe-up to get the most out of my yarn... And finally it is my first heel-flap and gusset but the instructions seem pretty straight forward that I think I can make it...

My Movie Night Knitting

I frogged the sock that I knit last week and started it over... I have to write somewhere that he wears a 68sts sock not a 72sts... But it's ok... Now it is good... I also tried to knit up to where I was so that I can go on this week and make some progress...

Last night we watched Snatch... It was a funny movie with a lot of black humor... We really liked it... But not much knitting done because it was less than a 2-hour movie... I should start watching bigger ones...

That's all from me...

Hope are all safe and well!!!

See you next week!!!
